Background
Starting in 2019, emerging meat alternative foods represented by plant-based foods are developing rapidly in the Chinese market, which not only opens up huge space for scenario applications of pea protein, and at the same time has great potential to consolidate China's food security, reduce carbon emissions and improve people's health, making it a sunrise industry in line with the future direction of food development in China.
In 2021, the market size of the plant-based food industry in China was approximately RMB 9 billion, an increase of 11% year-on-year, and by 2025 the market size in China is expected to reach RMB 20 billion.
