Industrial Background

China is the world's largest producer, consumer, and trader of meat. In 2021 the production of pork, beef, sheep, and poultry reached 88.87 million tons, an increase of 16.3% over the year of 2020. The pork production has recovered from the impact of African swine fever, production reached 52.96 million tons, an increase of 28.8% over the previous year. In 2021, China’s meat imports reached 9.395 million tons, in other words, 32.87 billion U.S. dollars, a ten-year compound growth rate are 15.9% and 21.6% respectively.

As the most important category of agricultural products, food production and trade, the development momentum of meat is still promising, while the opportunities and challenges coexist. How to deal with the challenges of the COVID-19 for the meat industry? How to anticipate the ups and downs of prices for international trade manipulation? How to develop new categories that can attract the consumption of the emerging Generation Z fans? How to further improve the efficiency of the meat supply chain? Finally, we can find the solutions to these problems only when the industry faces the challenges. This forum focuses on the above problems and challenges, and jointly to promote healthy and sustainable development of meat trade.
